On September 26, IML proudly partnered with the Durham Region Transit in raising funds for The Special Olympics Ontario. This marked the third consecutive year our team has partnered with the Durham Region as a sponsor at the annual golf event held at WoodenSticks Golf Course in Uxbridge.
It was only this year when we realized just how closely our team is touched by the meaningful work that the Special Olympics does for members of the community, specifically, those with special needs.
Earlier this year, a member of our team travelled to Athens, Greece to witness the 2011 Special Olympics World Summer Games where her niece, Sara Albers, competed in track and field. Sara returned home with a gold and a bronze medal in recognition of her determination, commitment to training and passion for sport.
As an organization, we are proud to partner with companies committed to improving the lives of others. By supporting the work of The Special Olympics team we hope to help enrich the lives of other special needs athletes like Sara.
Congratulations to Sara on her success and to Durham Region Transit in raising $50,000 to support athletes like Sara in making their dreams a reality.
Anyone interested in learning more about the Special Olympics and Sara’s story can tune in to TSN on the dates below to watch a one-hour special, dedicated to Special Olympics athletes.
